The Enhanced 486 Security System-on-Module SECSOM-486 is a
highly integrated multi part module based on the ZFx86 SoC. An enhanced
80486 class CPU running at 66 MHz is combined with 128 MBytes SDRAM,
4 MBytes of F-RAM to store the BIOS, OS and application data, a
USB 1.1 host/ device controller and a Hifn 7954 processor as
security and compression companion.
The SECSOM-486 builds on a 21x21 PGA connector which allows
high reliable module to board connections and an easy escape routing
from the device. Since the module is protected by an enclosure the
SECSOM-486 is perfectly suited for rugged environments. The
SECSOM-486 has a maximum power consumption of about 8 W and can be
used in fanless applications.
Exporting a 32-bit PCI expansion bus running at 33 MHz and a 16-bit
ISA expansion bus, the SECSOM-486 can be connected to lots of
I/O and memory devices without additional glue logic. A USB host/ device
controller offers USB 1.1 up and downlink ports thus, allowing the
SECSOM-486 to act as both, USB host and USB device simultanously.
Two ATA-4 IDE channels, one IEEE 1284 port and one EIA/TIA-232 interface
are also available. Besides, the SoM is accessible for maintenance tasks
through a dedicated EIA/TIA-232 interface connectable to any host device
that has a serial port (virtually any PC).
The SECSOM-486 comes with our Protected Mode RTOS
µPMOS preloaded which
makes the module and all its interfaces fully operational within a few seconds after
POST and directly programmable through the maintenance port without any
additional development tools.
